Personal highlights for Niykee include being hand-picked to join Snoop in the YouTube Brandcast, in May 2013, and writing songs despite all the turmoil of the past few years. Being a magnet for producers, Niykee has a constant eye on the numerous beats delivered to her. She finds that most of them spark new songs. It's easy to tell when a beat's great after five seconds. Then I'll have a song in my head and start writing right away she tells. While I play the guitar in my front yard I begin writing, and words flow. Most of the time it is accomplished in about 30 minutes. Niykee says that when she grows as a lyricist, the painful memories of her childhood are an source of inspiration. "Even even if I'm not writing about my life directly the grief of losing my sister as well as my difficult childhood is incorporated into my songs," she says. It influences my music and gives it a deeper meaning, which I find crucial. I want to be able to hear my music 20 years from now and still feel proud about what I have to say.
